I've been reading the books, or more so listening to the audio books as I don't have a lot of my own time to read them. I found the concept intriguing. Partially because Robert doesn't actually tell you how to become rich in any specific way. He does a good job of inspiring you to increase your financial intelligence, get out of the rat race (the typical 9-5 routine), and manage your own business. I should also add that yes I'm sure he's making his millions on inspiring others to get rich, play his cashflow game, and taking his courses. Way to manage your own business Robert .

So here in Calgary Canada we've been seeing ads to take the free course on Facebook. It's kind of everywhere you look if you know what you're looking at. Like when you buy a car you see the exact same car everywhere (what's the term for that? Hyper-awareness?). So yes I signed up for the first free class. It was the investment based one. I decided to skip it as I've not been that interested in investments (seems too volatile to me compared to real estate). I took the next free course for real estate when it came around town.

And that leads me to the course I'm enrolled in this weekend. The $495 course. Could I be a sucker? Maybe, but I doubt it. I know what I'm getting into, I know they'll probably teach me some stuff but not as much as if I take the $12K - $45K courses. Probably enough to get myself into trouble and make a few deals. I'm dedicated to this though. I want to be rich so that I can explore the world with my son, help people, and also give my wife the freedom to do what she wants without worry of money and time.

I don't think (some may disagree) I'm doing this because I want a Rolex and Ferrari. I'd be happy with a Tesla don't get me wrong, but it's not the thing I want most in life. Do I want a big ass house? Sorta...I just want a nice sized kitchen with enough room in it for an ice cream maker. The kitchen I have now barely has enough room for any frivolous things. The main purpose of my wanting to be rich is so that I don't have to worry about the day to day crap.

When you sign up for the course they have you call a number and listen to a voice message which directs you to write down some information and assigns a couple tasks before starting the course. I need to write down my mission, purpose, and vision. So here we go:

Mission: To build things. I've always loved helping people achieve reality with their dreams.

Purpose: To make my community a better place. I have a huge passion for green living, and would like to do everything I can to help my part of the world.

Vision: I'm going to spend more time in my community helping people and the planet. I want to go back to school to learn new ways of doing things in our ever changing world. Such as building affordable green housing for those who can't afford it. I want to show my family the world. Spend as much time with my son and wife as I can possibly handle. And finally I love learning, so I'd like to continue to educate people and share the knowledge I have acquired.

That's all for now. I'm hoping to continue blogging into the future about all of the stuff I learn from the Rich Dad Academy. Stay tuned.
